LOOKING AHEAD TO A GREAT YEAR

Southwest Florida weather was warm to close out the year and the 2016 year began warm as well. Finally we are beginning to get cooler weather and with that we are catching a variety of fish.

Spanish mackerel are very cooperative and a lot of fun as long as the weather is not to cold or windy
Sea Trout fishing is good and will continue to get better over the next several months. Trout and mackerel are often caught together.

When the weather is cold sheepshead fishing is at its best, Unlike sheepshead from northern waters, Florida sheepshead are excellent tablefare
Catching redfish in January is hit or miss, when the weather cooperates we are catching a few good ones
In the winter months we have some very low tides, you really have to be careful not to end up like this unlucky sailor
And there is always the chance for a surprise catch like this nice cobia that was caught in Charlotte Harbor

And for those that enjoy nature this is a great time of year, lots of birds including newborn bald eagles
